CCAR Reaffirms opposition to DADT

The Central Conference of American Rabbis at its San Francisco Conference this past week reaffirmed its opposition to discrimination in the armed forces of the United States. It specifically reinforced its opposition to the heinous Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy aimed at ousting gay men and lesbians who are on active duty.

Rabbis serve as chaplains in the military.  Our service members need the support of clergy. They do the difficult work of defense and keeping our way of life intact–the way of liberty and justice and peace. But when our armed forces policies contradict that vision causing injustice and hatred and erosion of liberty we must eradicate those policies.
