Trees for Tu B’shevat

Tu B’shvat higeeyah.  Yes, Tu B’shvat is here.  Today is the 15th of the month of Shevat.  One of the New Year’s of Jewish tradition.  Today is often called the birthday of the trees. This is because everything produced after this day is accounted for in the new calculations for the temple terumot and ma’aserot.  Fruit produced before the 15th of Shevat was accounted in the previous years tithes.

But in our day and time we dedicate this holy day to the renewal and greening of our planet and world.  And Israel needs you now more than ever. As you may know the Carmel Fire in Israel destroyed millions of trees.  It has had a devastating effect on the entire country. This Tu B’shvat take a moment to plant a tree in Israel through the Jewish National Fund.  Click here to plant your tree in honor of a loved one or in memory of a loved one.   Help restore Israel and make it a green place once again.
