It’s the day after. Romney conceded and Obama gave a rousing speech to his loyalists in Chicago and the nation. But what has really changed? The Democrats picked up a couple of more Senate Seats. The House remains a Republican majority committed to the same plans as before which has been to block the President at every turn.
Paul Ryan the Republican darling and now former Vice-presidential candidate returns to the House empowered by his national platform. We have not heard the last of the Ryan budget plan. We will be hearing more of it in coming days.
The ticking time bomb of sequestration at the end of the year has all the makings of a frankenstorm. Unless the President and Congress can find a way to talk to each other over the partisan divide. I am not sure either side will learn a new language that fast.
But it’s certainly time to try.
