Don’t forget to join us at Kol Ami tonight. The amazing Vox Femina choral group will be filling our sanctuary with Jewish music. Founded by Kol Ami member, Dr. Iris Levine chair of the music department at Cal Poly Pomona, Vox Femina has won numerous awards for their artistry and dedication.
They will join with our amazing Cantor, Mark Saltzman to help our Shabbat services take on the feel of a Jewish Music Festival! Isn’t that kind of joy exactly what Shabbes is about?
This is in advance of their November 13 concert at USC’s Zipper Auditorium (200 Grand, downtown Los Angeles). This evening (8 pm) will also be filled completely with Jewish music including a special piece dedicated to the “Women of the Wall” the Israeli group that prays at the Western Wall each Rosh Chodesh (on the New Moon). This is so timely as of course their leader Anat Hoffman was arrested this summer for carrying the Torah away from the wall. (I have written about this previously and my experience with them this summer at that incident).
Cantor Saltzman and I will both be at this concert and participate with Vox! (In full disclosure I have been a member of their advisory board for years.)
So I hope you can join us first tonight at Kol Ami at 8 pm
and then again on Saturday night November 13 8 pm at Zipper Auditorium.
Hope to see you there. Shabbat shalom.
