Find Your Own Voice! Make Your own Decisions

There are always a lot of voices in our heads.  Our own inner voice can be silenced by the voices of others that we hear. We recall conversations with family members and co-workers. We replay interactions the went well and those that had bumps in the road. Sometimes we get an ear worm when a snippet of a song plays over and over in our minds.  Sometimes  the voices are words of praise that were shared with you and others. But more often we dwell on words that were said harshly or of criticism. Decision making can be difficult.

These voices are particularly loud when we have a decision to make.   The voices of others can drown out  our ability to hear our own voice!

If you are at all like me I overthink lots of things. I weigh decisions and imagine what my parents would say, my children would say, what friends would say. And of course family, friends and co-workers sometimes share their opinions in real life about what I should do. Sometimes there are so many perspectives I can’t figure out what I really want to do.

But you can learn to hear your own voice with confidence and courage and conviction. You can make decisions without those voices derailing you.

Coaching can help

Coaching can help. Having a coach that knows you and understand your goals will walk with you through the difficult moments. Coaching helps you through that process of decision making.  It helps you set aside all the extraneous  commentaries and sort through the options before you.  A great coach helps you find your own authentic voice.  Through a series of artful questions and focused listening,  a great coach helps you discern the way forward that is authentic to your own parameters and needs and heart. A great coach gives you encouragement and empowers you to find your way forward.

As Apple co-founder Steve Jobs said:

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

Working with a coach, will give your career the boost you need to find your own authentic voice and the strength and focus to move ahead! A great coach helps you make sound decisions and brings out the best in you!
