Today I am off to study at my winter Rabbinic Session at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. As some of you know I am a part of the three year Rabbinic Leadership Initiative of the Hartman Institute. There are 30 rabbis of all denominations from North America who are engaged in intensive Jewish learning for the next 3 years. I am so blessed to be one of them! With deepest thanks to my congregation and to the Los Angeles Jewish Federation for the opportunity!
So over the next two weeks I will blog intermittently from Jerusalem with my reflections of what is happening on the ground in Israel. So many controversies there including Ehud Barak leaving the Labor Party, President Peres’ wife passing away; the conversion bill getting another six month rest; the ongoing battles about gender equality in Israel especially about prayer at the Kotel; the increasing ill treatment of Arab citizens; the booming tech sector in Israel and so much more.
Watch here for more.
